Injury-hit Chiefs without key players for Free State Stars clash

BETHLEHEM, September 18 – Kaizer Chiefs will be without striker Leonardo Castro and defender Erick Mathoho for Tuesday night’s Absa Premiership clash against hosts Free State Stars at Goble Park in Bethlehem (start 7.30pm).

Colombian forward Castro sustained an ankle injury during their 4-1 win over Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon at the Cape Town Stadium as he needed to be substituted in the first half.

On the other hand, coach Giovanni Solinas is set to head to Bethlehem to face his former bosses without the services of defender Mathoho, who is also likely to miss the game due to a groin injury.

Meanwhile, in other Chiefs injury news, Joseph Molangoane is currently doing a lot of gym work as he recovers from a broken leg suffered earlier this year.

A few weeks ago, Chiefs humbled Stars 3-0 in the MTN8 quarterfinals.

The most recent league encounter took place in April when Amakhosi bagged the three points with the last kick of the match.  (ANA)
