Car crashes into tree leaving two dead in Gauteng

CAPE TOWN, September 10  – Two people were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree on Houtkop Road in Vereeniging, Gauteng, ER24 paramedics said on Monday.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said paramedics arrived on the scene on Sunday afternoon and found provincial services already on the scene.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a man lying outside the vehicle. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead by provincial services,” said Meiring.

He said a second patient, a man, was also assessed and found to be in a critical condition. The man was treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions and transported to Sebokeng provincial hospital for further care.

“Unfortunately, after a few minutes in hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” said Meiring. (ANA)
