PORT ELIZABETH, 7 August – A 28-year-old man will make his first appearance in the Elliotdale Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape on Tuesday after he was arrested for his girlfriend’s murder.
Police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha said it was alleged that the couple had a misunderstanding.
Manatha said that the suspect allegedly took his girlfriend’s cell-phone and returned it to her house at Pongoma Village on Friday evening.
Before returning the phone, he called her relative and asked that she collect the device. When the girlfriend went to collect her cell-phone she was shot several times on her upper body and died at the scene, police said.
The man was arrested on Monday and is facing a murder charges. The deceased was identified as 24-year-old Amanda Bono.
