JOHANNESBURG, April 29 – A bus driver was critically injured when his bus crashed into the back of a truck on the N1 after the Allandale off-ramp in Midrand, Johannesburg on Sunday morning, paramedics said.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 10am and found another service already in attendance, ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said.
“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the driver lying in the bus in a critical condition. The man was extricated, treated for his injuries, and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.”
The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. He was treated and transported by another service to hospital, Meiring said.
