Taxi and truck collide in Joburg, 17 injured

JOHANNESBURG, April 17  – At least 17 people were left injured on Tuesday morning after a taxi and truck collided at the Nic Dierderiks and Hendrik Potgieter Road intersection in Strubens Valley, west of Johannesburg, ER24 said.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics found 17 people had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no serious injuries or fatalities were found on the scene.

“The truck and light motor vehicle was on the side of the road. The taxi was found lying on its side against the truck and several people were found either lying around or walking around on the scene.”

Meiring said the patients were treated and thereafter transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
