ANC wins two crucial municipal by-elections in KwaZulu-Natal

JOHANNESBURG, April 5  – The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday said it was “thrilled to have emerged victorious in two of the three by-elections held yesterday”.

The vacancies were as results of the passing away of ANC councillors. We are even more excited that the ANC retained these wards with a big majority. The ANC received 60. 38 % in Ward 16 of Umdoni and also recorded 54.63% in the Ward 03 of Mkhambathini.

“We are happy to have once again registered landslide victories in the by-elections of Ward 16 in Umdoni Municipality and Ward 03 of Mkhambathini Municipality,” said ANC KZN Provincial Interim Coordinator Sihle Zikalala.

“These results confirm the people’s confidence in the governing party, the ANC. They are further testament that no other political party has the proven track record, experience and vision to unite the people of South Africa and move our country forward.

“We appreciate the support we continue to receive from the people of the province.”

The ANC failed to win Ward 02 of Jozini Municipality.
