JOHANNESBURG, March 14 – South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada on Wednesday appealed the ICC suspension which will see him miss the final two Tests against Australia.
Rabada on Monday picked up three demerit points for his shoulder nudge on Aussie captain Steve Smith during the second Test in Port Elizabeth. It brought the 22-year-old up to eight demerit points which meant an automatic suspension of two Tests.
“Kagiso will be appealing his charge,” said Proteas media manager Lerato Malekutu.
“The ICC have 48 hours to appoint a Judicial Commissioner (JC) and thereafter a hearing will be heard within a seven-day period.
“Kagiso remains suspended unless the appointed JC finds enough reason/argument to allow him to play in the 3rd Test. CSA will advise in due course who the legal team will be.”
