JOHANNESBURG, February 14 – President Jacob Zuma is expected to respond Wednesday to the ruling African National Congress (ANC) decision to recall him.
On Tuesday the ANC said its highest decision-making body between conferences – the national executive committee – had decided to recall Zuma and it was expected that he will “respond tomorrow”.
The ANC secretary general, Ace Magashule, said the decision was final and irreversible. “When we recall a deployee we expect him to do what the organisation expects him to do”.
So far the ANC has failed to persuade Zuma to resign.
If the scandal-ridden president fails to resign, the ruling party plans further action.
The ANC parliamentary caucus has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday morning to decide the next step.
