Port Elizabeth police on manhunt for cash-in-transit robbers

PORT ELIZABETH, February 2 – Police in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape are on a manhunt for four armed suspects who robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle at Wells Estate on Monday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge said a blue Toyota Corolla was hijacked at a stop street in Chevrolet Street, Markman, at around 6am.
Beetge said about two hours later the same vehicle was used as a getaway vehicle following a cash-in-transit heist at Truckers Inn on the R335 opposite Coega Village, Wells Estate.
“Three security guards of Transcash were collecting a cash pick-up and on returning to the vehicle four suspects gun pointed and robbed them of a substantial amount of money.”
Beetge said the vehicle was later found abandoned. Police are appealing to any person who may be able to assist in the investigation to contact the Motherwell Serious Violent Crime Task Team.
