Nigeria to hold presidential elections February next year

JOHANNESBURG, September 29 – Nigeria’s next presidential and parliamentary elections will be on February 16, 2019,  the Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission announced on its official Twitter account on Thursday.

The elections will herald the end of incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari’s first term and it remains uncertain if he will run again.

Buhari came to power in 2015 and has faced numerous problems including corruption, a weak economy and an Islamist insurgency by Boko Haram.
