Scooter driver dies in Cape Town crash

CAPE TOWN, September 16 – A woman scooter rider, believed to be 35 years old, was killed when she was knocked over by a bakkie in Protea Heights in Brackenfell, Cape Town on Friday night, paramedics said.

When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene a woman “was found lying underneath the bakkie’s wheel”, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.

She was found to be in a critical condition and advanced life interventions were initiated.

“ER24 transported the woman to Tygerberg Hospital but unfortunately as soon as they arrived there the woman succumbed to her injuries. She was declared dead at the hospital.”

The exact circumstances of the accident were not yet known to paramedics but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, Van Huyssteen said.
