Limpopo police investigate murder-inquest docket after deaths of elderly couple

TZANEEN, September 12 – Police in Bolobedu outside Tzaneen in Limpopo are investigating a case of murder as well as an inquest docket following the deaths of an elderly couple on Monday night.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe’ Ngoepe said the incident occurred at around 7pm at Madibeng village.
“It is alleged that an elderly couple aged 75 had a domestic conflict until the husband started to assault the wife,” Ngoepe said. “During the conflict, he locked her inside the hut and set it alight before fleeing the scene. Members of the family attempted to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, it burned to ashes and she died instantly from burning wounds.
“Her husband was found hanging under the tree in the nearby bushes.”
The deceased were identified as Elizabeth and Albert Lenexa.
The cause of domestic conflict was not immediately known and police investigations are still continuing.
