Inanda murderers sentenced to life by Durban high court

DURBAN, August 29 – The Durban High Court has sentenced two men to life for two separate murders which occurred in the Inanda region.

Police spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, said that in September 2014, four men were in a house in the Nhlungwane area when Sanele Cele, 23, opened fire on them, fatally wounding Mduduzi Ntaka, 20, Sanele Mhlanga, 20, and injuring the other two men.

The victims were taken to hospital for medical attention, while two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder were opened at Inanda police station for investigation. Cele was arrested and charged and sentenced to two life terms for murder and 20 years for attempted murder.

In a separate case, Lindelani Chili, 24, was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and ten years for theft after an incident in July 2015, where Sibusiso Mtshali, 31, was found dead inside a vehicle in the Ohlange area.

He had been assaulted with a hammer and his camera stolen. A case of murder was opened at Inanda police station and Chili was arrested and charged.
