JOHANNESBURG, August 11 – Eskom has postponed “until further” the announced temporary closure of the R21 road for replacement of the Apollo-Croydon transmission line.
In a terse statement on Friday the power utility said it “would like to inform electricity customers, road users and all stakeholders that the temporary road closures at the Flying Saucer interchange and Olifantsfontein Drive on the R21 freeway that had been scheduled for Sunday, 13 August 2017 has been postponed until further notice”.
The postponement came after meeting on Thursday between Eskom and SANRAL, which was aimed at re-assessing the appropriate contingencies, risks and concerns arising from the temporary road closures.
Eskom said it will “inform all customers, road users and stakeholders of a new date once it has been confirmed”.
