JOHANNESBURG, July 27 – Platinum Stars are bringing back Lehlogonolo Masalesa to the Premiership, after signing him for the next three seasons.
Masalesa, 25, had been in Greece at Larissa for the second part of the 2016-2017 season, but did not have his contract renewed.
He returns home after captaining the South African team to fifth place at the Cosafa Castle Cup, in the North West Province earlier in July.
“We are very excited as a club to have landed his signature. It’s a big signing for us. We needed to replace that situation in the midfield so we think that (Masalesa), with his experience, will be able to just pluck into that position,” said Stars general manager, Senzo Mazingiza.
“It was not an easy signing to do. It took a lot of convincing and lobbying. I am glad he is coming back home. (Masalesa) was part of our team, before going to Orlando Pirates. He comes back with a lot of experience. I am sure he will do well for us,” he added.
Masalesa last played in the Premiership in the 2015-2016 season for Pirates. He made his debut at Wits in 2011.
