Nedbank Cup final is far more than just a football event

JOHANNESBURG, June 21 – The Nedbank Cup final is set to light up the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday with loads of entertainment both on and off the field of play.

On the field, Orlando Pirates will take on the defending champions SuperSport United at the iconic Durban stadium, with kick-off set for 8.15pm.

This is a repeat of last year’s finale in Polokwane where United emerged victorious 3-2.

Matsatsantsa are aiming to become the first team to defend the trophy since the Nedbank sponsorship started, while the Buccaneers are looking to give their multitude of fans something to cheer about in their historic 80th year.

Off the field, there will be festivities galore for those who come in early. The activities will start at 2pm and will ensure that all fans have memorable moments beyond the soccer pitch.

Part of entertainment includes the fan zone, pre-match concert and what is set to be a dazzling opening ceremony.

The fanzone area, is made of an interactive theme park incorporating games, youth soccer clinics and autograph opportunities.

The pre-concert, scheduled for 5pm will include top South African acts such as Anatii, Mobi Dixon and Just Robyn, while the halftime show with the award-winning Zakes Bantwini, promises to be entertaining.

The opening ceremony will start at 7.40pm.
