DURBAN, June 10 – A pedestrian, believed to be in his 30s, died after being hit by a vehicle on the N3 near the M13 in Durban on Saturday morning, paramedics said.
Paramedics were called to the scene at about 8.30am where they found the pedestrian lying in the fast lane of the highway, ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.
Upon assessment they found that he had sustained critical injuries. The AMS medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to hospital.
“While paramedics were loading the critically injured man into the helicopter his vital signs deteriorated. Despite the continued efforts of the medical crew he later succumbed to his injuries on [the] scene.”
The occupants of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian were not physically injured, Vermaak said.
