Report recruiters who ask for fees – police

JOHANNESBURG, March 13 (ANA) – Police on Monday asked prospective job seekers to report any potential employers who ask for payments as part of the employment application.

In a statement the police said they were investigating several cases in which community members were defrauded.

“Suspects are using the same modus operandi. They will ask people to deposit certain amount of money to get a job; several people have been defrauded in the same manner,” the police warned.

Lelimo urged the public to refrain from paying recruiters to get jobs.

“There are no jobs where you will be required to pay a certain amount of money to be placed,” the police said.

“People must inform the police if someone wants them to pay certain amount of money to be listed. Working together between the Police and the community can eradicate this crime in the Johannesburg.”
